Shahadat couple is trying to reach a compromise

The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-5 of Dhaka on Sunday shifted the hearing of the case filed against cricketer Shahadat Hossain and his wife Jesmine Jahaan Nitto in connection with torturing their 11-year-old domestic help Mahfuza Akhter Happy to April 10.Earlier, on February 22, the court framed charges against the couple and fixed March 20 to start recording the depositions of the witnesses in the case.

Of yesterday’s hearing for fixing a new date of hearing, as they have been trying to reach to a compromise in the case. However, the public prosecutor of the case told the court that at this stage there is no scope of compromise in the case. Later, Judge Tanjila Islam of the court fixed the new date.

On September 6, last year, journalist Khandaker Mozammel Haque sued the couple for torturing their domestic help. Domestic help Happy was found injured on a road in Sangbadik Colony area of Pallabi in the city. Immediately after the incident, the couple went into hiding. Later, they surrendered to the court and secured bail from the apex court and the lower cour.
