CHITTAGONG – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today submitted charge-sheet against 33 people, including BNP leader Syed Wahidul Alam’s daughter Barrister Shakila Farjana, in a case of funding militancy.Assistant Director of RAB-7, Chittagong, Ruhul Amin, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge-sheet before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Munsi Moshiur Rahman under the Anti-Terrorism Act.The 33 included Advocate Hasanuzzaman Liton and Advocate Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon. In the charge-sheet, 83 people were made witnesses, RAB-7 and court sources said.
RAB-7 on February 19 last year arrested 12 people from ‘Al Madrasatul Abu Bakar’ at Chittagong’s Hathajari and seized huge arms and ammunition used in militant activities.Two days after their arrest, RAB-7 also arrested five persons from a militant hideout at Lotmoni hill under Banshkhali upazila.RAB-7 sources said the arrested belonged to a militant outfit named ‘Hamza Brigade’. “Barrister Shakila and two other lawyers have been accused of financing this militant group,” RAB had told a press conference shortly after their arrest.(BSS)
