A Dhaka court on Monday passed order to show journalist leader Shawkot Mahmud arrested in a murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station.Magistrate Raihanul Islam of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order in response a plea of the prosecution. Meanwhile, Advocate Sanaullah Mia moved a petition seeking the bail of BFUJ President Shawkot Mahmud while the rejected the plea.
Thirty-eight BNP leaders and activists (including) BNP Chief Khaleda Zia were made accused in the case. The charge sheet of the case was submitted to the court on April 5.
The Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Shawkot Mahmud on August 18, last year, from the gate of Sumari Convention Centre of Panthapath in the capital. He was so far placed on remand for eight days to quiz him in several cases. Later, on February 29, a Dhaka court rejected the remand plea of the police of Shahbagh Police Station and asked the police to interrogate him at the jail gate.
