Islami Chhatra Shibir, the associate student organisation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, will enforce a daylong hartal in four districts in Khulan division on Sunday protesting the killing of its activist Rafiqul Islam.
The districts where hartal will be observed are—Chuadanga, Meherpur, Jenaidah and Kustia.
Shibir activist Rafiqul Islam was killed on Thursday in a clash with police at Damurhuda in Chuadanga while Shibirmen were bringing out a procession as part of the central programme.
Chuadanga Shibir president Billal Hossain announced the hartal programme following the incident.
As part of the programme, Shibir activists on Saturday staged demonstrations at Sarojganj at Sadar upazila, Damurhuda, Darshana and Jibonnagar to make Sunday’s programme a success.
Meanwhile, Damurhuda police on Saturday filed a case against 600 unidentified Shibir activists for their alleged involvement in Thursday’s clash with police. – Our Correspondent, Chuadanga
