Shibir man killed in Jhenidah ‘’gunfight’’


Dhaka – One activist of Islami Chhattra Shibir was killed in a reported‘gunfight with police at Madupur in sadar upazila early Saturday.
Azbhar Ali sheikh,additional superintendent of police, Jhenidah said, a gang of criminial was taking preparation to commit crime on Madupur road arround3.00am.When a patrol team of police went there, the criminal gang fired shots targeting them, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.
At one stage, one gang member was caught in the line of fire and died on the sport.
Later, after the gunfight that lasted for 10 minutes, police recovered the body of Ibnul Islam Parvez, 28, son of Jhangir Hossain of Bananipara, Jhenidah town.
Altaf Hossain of superintendent of Jhenidah police, said Ibnul Islam Parvez was a former presedent of Jhenidah town Shibir unit.
Police said they also recovered one country pistol, 3 bullets and 5 sharp weapons from The sport.
However, the family member of the Shibir man claimed that plainclothes police picked up Ibnul Mohammadpur area of Dhaka on June 16. – Our Correspondent Jhenidah
