Shops vandalized at Jahangirnagar University

Some leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Shaheed Rafiq Jabbar hall of Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit vandalized more than 6 to7 shops and also beats up a senior student on Friday over a trifling matter at ‘Geruya bazar’, outskirts to the JU campus.The victim was identified as Rashel Ahmed a former student of 37th batch JU.
Campus sources said more than 200 BCL leader and activists led by International affair secretary of JU unit BCL Sajib Kumar Shaha, Drama secretary Mazedul Islam Shimanto and BCL leader Nahid Hossain vandalized these shops which worth at TK 6 to 7 lakhs.
Eyewitness said BCL leader Nahid went a shop of Geruya bazar for breakfast while locked in altercation with Rashel over seating on a bench at around 12:00 pm.
Afterwards, Nahid back to the hall and rushed to the spot with Sajib Kumar Shaha and Mazadul Islam Simanto and their followers BCL men while they vandalized 6 to 7 shops and beat up Rashel.
Meanwhile JU Protorial teams rushed to the spot and rescued the victims and handed him over the Ashlia police station.
On the other hand, Nahid filled an allegation with JU proctor seeking the justice as he was allegedly beaten by Rashel.
Denied the allegation of vandalizing the shops, BCL leader Sajib Kumar Shaha said we haven’t vandalized any shop, we just close the shop where the incident happened.
JU Proctor Prof Tapan Kumar Shaha said we forwarded the allegation of Nahid to the registrar as Rashel is not the present students of JU, so we don’t take any steps with our regulation”.
