Newly built SKS School and College was inaugurated at Horinsingha, on outskirt of the district town yesterday amid much festivity and enthusiasm.
A function was also held on the school premises with Rasel Ahmed Liton, chief executive of SKS Foundation and chairperson of the academic institution, in the chair.
Deputy speaker of the Jatiya Sangshad Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah, MP, addressed the function as the chief guest while chairman of Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Dr Quazi Khaliquzzaman Ahammad and whip of the Jatiya Sangshad Mahabub Ara Begum Gini, MP, were present at the event as guests of honor.
Managing director of PKSF Abdul Karim, deputy commissioner Gautam Chandra Pal, police super Mashrukur Rahman Khaled, mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Advocate Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon, country director of Action Aid Bangladesh Farah Kabir, district primary education officer Aminul Islam Mondal were present as special guests.
Earlier, principal of the college Abdus Sattar delivered a welcome speech saying required number of teaching staff had already been appointed and the academic activities would start from January, 2018.
Deputy speaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah urged the college authority to provide quality and moral education to the students so that they could be worthy citizens of the country and lead the nation towards development.
He also asked the teachers of the institute to be more serious and professional to turn the institute into a knowledge acquiring centre in a bid to address the challenges of the 21st century in the age of globalization, reports BSS from Giabandha.
