Socialist Student Front female activist forced out of BAU hall


Mymensingh, 09 Jan – Activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student organization of ruling party Awami League activists forced an activist of Socialist Students’ Front (SSF) allegedly at midnight out of residential hall at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU).Sources said that BCL activists of Begum Rokeya Hall asked newly enrolled first year students including SSF activist Afsana Ahmed Eva to attend all BCL programs as an obligation.
On Monday night at 11pm, activists led by BAU BCL vice-president Tania Afrin Sinthi, Sadia Swarna, Ela and Shila called Eva at guest room obtruded Eva bag-baggage from hall.
Protesting the incident, Eva started hunger strike in front of the hall from Tuesday morning. Later, at 10 am Proctor Prof Dr Atiqur Rahman Khokhon brought her to proctor office and Eva dropped a complain letter demanding an immediate solution of this matter.
On the other hand, at 1 pm some students of the hall made a human chain against Eva complaining that she misbehaved with senior students of the hall.
BAU BCL general secretary Miah Mohammed Rubel said that, BCL was not involved in the incident. Calling the new enrolled first year students at night, BCL leaders taught Bangladesh original history & etiquette at hall guest room.
BAU proctor said that, the problem was solved and SSF activist went to her room. BAU SSF president Sourav Das said that, now their activists brought Eva to her room. We will protest if further anything happen to our activists, he said.
Begum Rokeya Hall provost Prof Dr Ismat Ara Begum said that an investigation committee will be formed on this incident.
