Dhaka – Bangladesh’s top order batsman Soumya Sarkar hammered his second ODI century, in the 3rd game of the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Friday.Soumya took a single off Wellington Masakadza in 27.1 overs to reach the 100-run mark off just 81 balls, including nine fours and four sixes, when Bangladesh were on 199/1* in their pursuit for 287 in reply to Zimbabwe’s 286/5.
His innings finally came to an end on 117 runs off 92 balls featuring nine fours and six sixes being caught by Tiripano off H Masakadza on 220/2.
The 220-run partnership between Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes is also the best 2nd wicket stand for Bangladesh in ODI.
Soumy missed the first call in the squad due to his dull performances in the Asia Cup in the UAE in September and got the call for the final ODI following his all-round performance in the ongoing first class 20th National Cricket League (NCL) for defending champions Khulna Division.UNB
