Dhaka – Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Friday stressed the need for ensuring women-friendly environment in workplaces alongside creating women employment.
“The creation of jobs for women is not enough. A women-friendly atmosphere will have to be ensured everywhere, including their workplaces,” she said while addressing the 4th reunion of former students of Ruquayyah Hall of Dhaka University. UNB news agency reported
Ruquayyah Hall Alumni Association arranged the programme at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium.
Dr Shirin, also chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), said Rouqyyah Hall’s students are contributing to building the society and developing the nation through their respective works.
She underscored the need for ensuring women’s engagement in IT sector and their inclusion in the mainstream as well as enhancing women participation in Parliament.
Alumni association general secretary Mariam Begum and Rouqyyah Hall Provost Prof Dr Nasrin Ahmad also spoke at the programme held with alumni association president Prof Dr Raushan Ara Feroz in the chair, said a Parliament Secretariat release.
