The late singer’s family is also full of talented people who are established names in their own fields, the most known being her sons Shafin and Hamin Ahmed
Firoza Begum’s legendary status as the preeminent Nazrul Sangeet artist can be the subject of many television programs, as it has been. But the late singer’s family is also full of talented people who are established names in their own fields, the most known being her sons Shafin and Hamin Ahmed, who have since long engraved their names permanently in the history of Bangladeshi music. NTV took the initiative as part of Eid program to bring together the family members of the late singer in a special show.
Brainchild of the Head of Programme of NTV Mostafa Kamal Sayed and titled Galpo Shudhu Galpo Noy, the program is set to feature the story of this extraordinary family for the first time.
Producer for the program Jahangir Chowdhury said, “We had planned to telecast a programme like this when Firoza Begum was alive. But it did not happen for practical reasons. But now we are finally doing it.”
Other than Hamin and Shafin Ahmed, Firoza Begum’s siblings and their children will be featured in the program.
“The programme has portrayed how Firoza Begum’s next generation is directly or indirectly engaged with music,” said Shusmita Anis, Firoza Begum’s nephew and a well-known singer.
“We have engaged in a friendly conversation with our cousin Shafin Ahmed, Hamin and Rubaba Doula in the program. We have discussed music and performed as well,” she further added. Shusmita said she liked the program and called it “unique.”
Senior members of the family have also been featured. The programme is anchored by popular Nazrul Sangeet artist Sadia Afrin Mallik. It will be broadcast on September 7 and 8 at 9 pm, the 6th and 7th days of Eid-ul-Adha.
