Sramik Dal leaders meet Khaleda, discuss movement

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday night urged the leaders and activists of her party’s labour wing Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal to play a strong role in the ongoing movement to make it a success.
She made the call when pro-BNP senior labour leaders, led by members of the newly formed Sramik Dal committee, met her at her Gulshan office, insiders said.The nearly one-hour meeting began around 8:45pm. A Sramik Dal leader said they discussed various issues relating to the ongoing movement and their organisational activities.
The labour leaders gave Khaleda various suggestions and plans to make the movement a success.
They also condemned the ruling party’s attack on BNP men at Bakshibazar as they peacefully gathered there to welcome Khaleda at the makeshift court there.
Later in a brief address, Khaleda gave them various directions to make their organisation vibrant and involve people, mainly workers, in the party’s movement for forcing the government to hold a fresh election.
She also sought their all-out cooperation and spontaneous participation in their street movement.
At the beginning of the meeting, the new Sramik Dal committee leaders greeted Khaleda by presenting her a bouquet.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman, labour affairs secretary Jafrul Hasan, Sramik Dal president Anwar Hossain and general secretary Nurul Islam Naism were, among others, present. – UNB
