Dhaka: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Monday said the government is considering expanding the stipend coverage to keep the poor students attached to educational institutions and empower women.
“Considering the role of stipend, the government is planning to expand the stipend coverage so that poor students remain connected to educational institutions,” he said while addressing a views-exchange meeting. UNB News Agency Reported.
The meeting was arranged under the Higher Secondary Stipend Project at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital.
Nahid said the use of technology has made the stipend distribution easier apart from ensuring transparency in this regard. “Now stipend money reaches easily to the poor students through mobile phones,” he added.
The Education Minister said Bangladesh is now considered as a role model of education’s development globally due to providing stipend among poor students and distribution of textbooks free of cost.
