Stocks saw upward trend on Wednesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found finishing upward trend with higher transactions of some large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were travel and leisure, ceramic, engineering and jute. A total of 137 securities of large-cap group moved up on higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE finished the session with 7.46 points up at 6,289.33. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 followed it with 7.83 points up at 1,389.56 and 1.94 points up at 2,270.67.
The transactions at DSE were 25.17 core shares valued at total Taka 898 crore.
At DSE, out of the day’s 327 traded issues, price of 167 securities closed higher against 120 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Peninsula Chittagong, Monno Ceramics, ECABLES, Summit Alliance Port and Northern Jute. The major losing issues were Baraka Power, Desh Bandhu, OIMEX, Mithun Knitting and Ban Gas.
Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover leaders followed by AB Bank, Square Pharma, UPGDCL and CMC Kamal.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 26.04 points up at 19,465.19, reports BSS.
