Stocks surge in bullish transactions at both bourses

Key share price index at the country’s twin bourses — Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) –experienced another bullish session on Monday, with the DSE registering its highest turnover of 2015.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX gained 91.43 points or 2.13 percent to close at 4407.43 on the day. Of the 314 issues traded, 251 gained, 45 declined and 13 remained unchanged.Shares worth Tk 753.99 crore changed hands at the DSE on Monday, against Tk 710.61 crore on Sunday.
Analyzing the day’s market pulse, a leading stockbroker in the country, IDLC Finance, said, “As political worries sedated for now and impact of the unrest on earnings materialized, investors were looking forward to exploiting recovery expectation and over-reaction of the market in the past.”
“With gradual revival of investors’ sentiment and bountiful supply of fresh funds in the bourse, market resumed an uptrend after 4 sessions of consolidation,” they also added.
The day’s top 10 gainers at the DSE were Singer Bangladesh, Shurwid Industries, Golden Harvest Agro, AFC Agro Biotech, Rupali Bank, Bangladesh General Insurance, Apex Tannery, Asian Tiger Sandhani Life Growth Fund, United Airways, and Northern General Insurance.
The top five turnover leaders at the DSE were Khulna Power Company, United Power Generation & Distribution Company, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company, Beximco and Summit Purbanchol Power Company.
The CSE key index, CASPI also gained 77.15 points to reach 13578.98 at close on Monday. Of the 235 issues traded, 179 advanced, 47 suffered loss and 9 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 60.92 crore on the day at the CSE. – UNB
