Suspected extremist outfit ‘JMB’ man held in Rajshahi

Dhaka – Police arrested a suspected member of banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) along with five crude bombs, two petrol bombs and huge jihadi books from Shibpur area in Puthia upazila under Rajshahi district on Thursday, UNB news agency reported.The arrestee was identified as Habibur Rahman Jubayer, 22, son of late Khalilur Rahman of Baduria village in Shibganj upazila of Bogra district.
Officer-in-charge of Puthia Police Station Hafizur Rahman said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Jubaer when he along with his some associates was holding a secret meeting in the morning.
However, Jobaer’s associates managed to flee the scene.
The law enforcers also recovered five crude bombs, two petrol bambs and huge jihadi books from the spot.
The arrested man is an accused in the case of bomb attack on Gaibandha Jatra Mancha in 2005, said superintendent of police Moajjem Hossain.
