Sylhet stadium ready to host U19 Cricket World Cup matches


The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium is ready to host the ICC for its U19 Cricket World Cup matches.Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will hand over the responsibility of the venue to International Cricket Council on Thursday, BCB grounds committee chairman Hanif Bhuiyan said on Wednesday.“The venue will be handed over to the ICC on Thursday making it cent percent ready as per the ICC prescriptions,” he told a press conference after visiting the stadium.Hanif claimed that latest modern technologies have been installed in the stadium, including stone-based pitches.The 16-team mega event of the Youth Cricket is scheduled to be held in eight venues across Bangladesh from January 27 to February 14.Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Dhaka and Sylhet will host the 48 matches of the 19-day tournament that kicks off with the match between defending champions South Africa and hosts Bangladesh at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong on January 27.(UNB)
