Tahmid acquitted Holey Artisan attack charges

Dhaka – The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Sunday acquitted Holey Artisan attack survivor, Tahmid Hasib Khan, in a case filed against him of the charges of hiding information about the attack.
Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan passed the order in presence of Tahmid in the case filed with Bhatara Police Station of the city, on Sunday.Tahmid was allegedly seen holding a gun and walking with the terrorists in a couple of pictures taken on the occasion by a man from an apartment adjacent to Holey Artisan bakery. A Toronto University student, Tahmid Hasib Khan was arrested under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in connection with the Gulshan terror attack and later he was allowed bail on October 2, last year.
Bangladesh-origin Tahmid was rescued along with 12 others during the 12-hour hostage standoff at the Holey Artisan Bakery in the city’s diplomatic zone of Gulshan on July 2, last year.
A total of 22 people were killed by a group of ‘militants’ on the attack of July 1 on café. Five ‘militants’ were also killed in Operation Thunderbolt, carried out by army commandos. A cafe employee, allegedly an accomplice of the attackers, also lost his life in the exchange of fire. Twenty hostages, including 17 foreign nationals, were killed by the militants. – Special Correspondent
