“A framework of the interim Teesta Water Sharing Agreement has been finalized following the directives of the two premiers,” he said while replying to a question from treasury bench member Mohammad Subid Ali Bhuiyan.

He hoped that the government will be able to sign the Teesta River water sharing agreement based on equality, justice and a policy on not harming each other.

“The efforts for signing the deal with India through discussion are ongoing,” the minister said.

Anwar said after coming to power in 2009, the present government gave highest importance to signing the Teesta River water sharing agreement and started discussion in different spheres with the Indian government.

The minister also said the government has finalized an interim water sharing agreement framework of the Feni River.

The discussion on the water sharing of Monu, Muhuri, Khowai, Gumti, Dharala and Dudhkumar rivers is also underway, he said.
