Text books getting a thing of past

It is often blamed that now-a-days education, particularly at the university level got stuck to only some lecture synopsis; students hardly use text or reference books! True to some extent, but why it’s so? Text and reference books are expansive, not readily available. On the other hand, digital books and journals are easily accessible and less costly.Well, this practice may limit the students’ learning only to some fixed topics and chapters. It is also true that the online resources are vast and the digital editions are continuously updating contents with the changing course of a subject. Perhaps teachers at the university level should maintain their own web pages keep updating their synopsis. At the same time students should devote their time to prepare their own notes through collecting information from different online archives and documents.
