The BNP-led 20-party alliance will form action committee at each thana in the city from Monday to make the movement for a free and fair poll participated by all political parties a success.
“The action committees will implement the programme of movement in the city in coordination with the central leadership of the alliance. The work to form the action committee will begin tomorrow (Tuesday),” said a city BNP leader after an emergency meeting of the alliance.
He said the city leaders of the 20-party alliance expressed their vow to take to the street under any situation.The two and half an hour long meeting organise by city unit of BNP was held at party headquarters at Naya Paltan.
The meeting was held with city BNP joint convenor Abdul Awal Mintoo in the chair. Member secretary of city BNP Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel moderated the meeting which began at 12:00pm.
Presidents and secretaries of city unit of respective parties took part in the meeting.
The meeting asked the leaders of concerned parties to send the names and contact details of presidents and secretaries of thana unit of respective parties within 48 hours to BNP office.
The 20-party actions committees would be formed in coordination with leaders of the alliance partners. The committees will be finalised at the next meeting likely to be held within three to four days, meeting sources added.
Addressing the meeting the 20-party leaders claimed that the alliance turned into a family and they expressed their vow to work together during the future movement.
They also demanded the release of 20-party leaders and withdrawal of false cases filed them.
Farid Hossain of Jamaat, Abdul Motin Saud of BJP, Khalid Saifullah and Engr Iqbal Hossain of LDP, Asadur Rahman of Jagpa, Shamsuddin Parvej of Labour Party, Morel Amjad Hossain of Bangladesh NAP, Ali Hossain Farayeji of Kallyan Party and Jamil Ahmed of ND, among others, were present at the meeting. – Staff Reporter
