The committee probing the brutal murders of seven people in Narayanganj recorded the statements of 200 people during the third session of the public hearing on Saturday.
After the hearing at the Shiddhirganj Power House, the chairman of the 7-member committee Shahjahan Ali Mollah, an additional secretary to the Public Administrating Ministry, told reporters 310 people were enlisted for the day’s hearing. The body will record the statements of the civil society members of Narayanganj at the Circuit House at 3pm on Sunday, he added.
The committee, which was formed following a High Court order, has so far recorded statements of 302 people.
During the last two sessions of the public hearing on May 12 and 15, the probe body recorded the statements of 77 people.
It also interviewed 25 family members of the victims on May 10.
A number of people told reporters that they have narrated the incident of the abduction as they witnessed it on April 27. S
ome of the witnesses claimed that Nur Hossain, prime suspect of the seven-murder, was present inside a car on the spot when seven people were abducted allegedly by Rab personnel.
Shahidul Islam, father-in-law of slain Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, gave his deposition on the second session of the public hearing on May 15.
During the first session of the hearing on May 12, Jalal Uddin, son of Mujibul Haque of Masdair in the city’s Fatullah area, claimed he witnessed the abductions and saw some Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members picked up the seven on April 27.
After giving his deposition, Jalal told reporters that he was near the abduction spot on the day.
A Rab car and a black 12 to 13-seat microbus were parked near the spot, he said, adding that the Rab members at one stage stopped two cars. Five people, including Nazrul, were inside a white car while Advocate Chandan Kumar Sarker and his car driver were inside another car, he said.
