Thousands throng Digital Innovation Fair in Gaibandha

Thousands of people from all walks of life thronged the Digital Innovation Fair-2013 at Independence Square of the town here on Thursday and Friday.
Gaibandha District Administration arranged the fair under Access to Information Programme of Prime Minister’s Office to reach the information communication technologies to the doorsteps of the common people and to familiarise them with the digital related services of the government and non-government organisations. People from all ages visited the fair with curious mood and they knew about the digital related services of different government and non-government organisations from the stall owners. Sarker M. Mahmuduzzaman, a student of class nine of Ahammad Uddin Shah Shishu Niketan School and College of the town, said such the fair would undoubtedly help the visitors to know the ICT related services of the various organisations.
Mahbub Hasan, an entrepreneur of Kamarjani Union Information Service Center of Sadar upazila and also a stall owner, said the fair was fully crowded with the visitors and they were able to know about the on going services of the organisations through multimedia projectors. A total of 46 stalls of different organisations including Mohimaganj, Kamarjani, Katabari, union information service centers and social science clubs and computer education centers coming from seven
upazilas in the district have been set up in the fair. Of the total, a good number of academic institutions including Gaibandha Government Collge, Gaibandha Government Women College, Gaibandha Govt. Boys’ High School, Gaibandha Girls’ High School, Gaibandha Technical School and College and Abu Hossain Sarker Women College also set up attractive stalls in the fair.
Earlier, secretary to Information and Communication Technology Ministry and director of A2I programme Nazrul Islam Khan formally inaugurated the fair as the chief guest and administrator of Zilla Parishad Advocate Syed Shamsul Alam Hiru was present as special guest while deputy commissioner Dr Quazi Anwarul Haque presided over the inaugural function. -BSS, Gaibandha
