Three kids among 5 killed in Comilla car plunge


Dhaka – Five people, including three children, were killed and three others injured as a private car plunged into a roadside ditch at Silunia on the Noakhali-Comilla highway in Laksam upazila under Comilla district on Sunday morning, UNB news agency reported.The deceased were identified as Anwarul Kabir Sohag,40, and his son Sahed Al Muntakim Shahin,4, and Shahabuddin Robi,45, and his two daughters –Raika Tabasum,7, and Raisa Muntasir,12, while the injured were Jannatum Nayeem,29, wife of Shahabuddin Robi, and their daughter Mahi Muntasir,6, and Marjan Begum Nishu,32, wife of Anwarul Kabir Sohag.
All the deceased hailed from Sobhanpur village in Chatkhil upazila.
Inspector (Investigation) of Laksam Police Station Ashfaqur Rahman said the Dhaka-bound private car, coming from Noakhali, fell into a roadside ditch in the area as its driver lost control over the steering around 7:30 am, leaving the five people, including three members of a family, dead on the spot and three others injured.
The injured were admitted to different hospitals of Comilla and Laksam, the inspector added.
