Dhaka- The Tigers fought hard to get the 1st wicket of Proteas as they departed debut Aiden Markram from opening stand just before the 2nd session on day one at 196/1 in the 1st innings of the 1st Test at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on Thursday.Sent in to bat first South Africa collected 198/1 in 55 overs before tea break where opener Dean Elgar was at the crease completing his 9th Test century scoring 101 off 178 balls, including seven boundaries and two sixes.After the departure of Markram, experienced Hashim Amla came to crease to pair Elgar in the 2nd stand.Markram fell short of three runs for a century on his Test debut as he was victim of run out in 54.2 overs, scoring 97 off 152 balls, including 13 boundaries.Mehedi Hasan Miraz delivered to Elgar who took a few paces down the pitch, tossing up the ball just a shade outside off, Markram responded from bowling end and was nearly halfway down the pitch before turned back.Mominul Haque swooped down on the ball and threw it to Mehedi who fisted the ball to whip the bails off.UNB news agency
