Dhaka – Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team’s dreams for playing the ICC Women’s World Cup got shattered losing to Sri Lanka by 42 runs via DL method in their last Super League match of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers at Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo on Sunday.India, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan secured top four slots to earn their places in the Women’s World Cup berths. They will join defending champions Australia, hosts England, New Zealand and the West Indies.In the day’s rain-hit match, chasing a revised target of 111 in curtailed 21 overs, Bangladesh played out the stipulated overs to collect 68 for 5 wickets.Opening batter Nigar Sultana scored 24 runs while Shaila Sharmin added unbeaten 21 runs. KDU Prabodhani and SIP Fernando bagged two wickets each for 14 and 16 runs. I Ranaweera took another wicket for 17 runs.Earlier, Sri Lanka scored 197 for 9 in 50 overs with Chamari Atapattu’s top-scoring 84 off 114 balls, including eight boundaries and one six.Hasini Perera scored 32 runs while opener Nipuni Hansika(19), Udeshika Prabodhani (12 not out), Dilani Surangika (12) and Prasadani Weerakkody(10) were the other double figure scorers for the side was sent in to bat first.Salma Khatun captured three wickets for 18 runs in nine overs while Shaila Sharmin, Suraiya Azmin, Khadija Tul Kubra, skipper Rumana Ahmed and Panna Ghosh took one wicket each for Bangladesh.
