Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) destroyed seized smuggled narcotic items worth Tk3.5 crore at the local BGB office compound in Jhumjhumpur of Jessore district town on Monday afternoon.
The border force had seized the narcotic items while those were being smuggled into Bangladesh from India through different border points of the district.
The contrabands include 24,416 bottles of Phensidyl syrup, 1,578
bottles of Indian liquor, 127 cans of beer, 8.129 grams of heroin,
176 kilograms of hemp, 39,359 pieces of sex stimulating tablet and
one kilogram of cocaine.
The items were destroyed on the premises of the BGB office in the
afternoon in presence of Brigadier General Habibul Karim, BGB
South-West region commander, Mostafizur Rahman, deputy commissioner
of the district, Anisur Rahman, superintendent of police, Lieutenant
Colonel Matiur Rahman, commanding officer of BGB-26, Amirul Islam, a
judicial magistrate, and Aslam Ali, deputy director of the district’s
Narcotics Control Department.
