Train derailment kills 2 in B’baria


Two people were killed and 30 others injured as a compartment of a trainveered off the tracks at Kumarpara near Akhaura railway station early
The train derailment kept train service cut off on the Dhaka-Chittagong rail route for five hours.The deceased were identified as Mostakim, 30, a resident of Netrakona, and Nurul Amin, a resident of Mymensingh.Saidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Akhaura Railway Police Station, said that a compartment of ‘Chittagong Mail’ train from Dhaka went off the tracks in the area around 3:00am, leaving its two passengers dead on the spot and 30 others injured.
Among the injured, 10 were whisked off to Sadar hospital while others to Akhaura railway hospital and Akhaura upazila health complex. A rescue train rushed to the spot and the rail service came back to normal at around 8:00am. -UNB, Brahmanbaria
