A Dhaka Court on Tuesday placed former president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Sultan Salauddin Tuku on a 6-day remand in a case filed for attacking police.
Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur passed the order on in the afternoon when police produced him before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
On Tuesday morning, Salauddin Tuku was shown arrested in two cases filed with Paltan Police Station over attack on police and obstructing the law enforcers while they were performing their duties.
It has been learned that some cases were filed against hundreds of opposition leaders and activists, but their names were not mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR).
Law enforcers arrested former president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Sultan Salahuddin Tuku from in front of BNP Nayapaltan office on Monday night.
The incident took place when party chairperson Khaleda Zia went to the party’s central office at Nayapaltan in the capital to see ailing party leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed who suddenly fell sick there. – Court Correspondent
