Two killed in Teknaf ‘encounter’


Two persons, believed to be drug peddlers, have been killed in an encounter with RAB and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in Teknaf.
The gun battle took place near the Damdamia Natural Park around 5am on Sunday, BGB 42 battalion commander Lt Col Abu Zar Al Zahid said.The two are listed drug peddlers and enforcement agencies have been looking to nab them, he said.
Those killed are Zahid Hossain Zaku, 42, and Faridul Alam, 40.
There has been a recent spurt in drug smuggling through Teknaf, with yaba tablets from Myanmar’s infamous ‘Golden Triangle’ flooding Bangladesh. –
