Two nabbed over trying to torch book fair stall


Two unidentified criminals have tried to torch a book stall at ‘Amar Ekushe’ book fair today.The book stall did not suffer much damage on Monday evening as fire fighters soon arrived at the scene.“They had set fire to a heap of paper behind the stall. We smelled petrol,” said ‘Prasenjeet’, a salesman at the stall.

“Police detected two men from CCTV footage. One of them had a beard.”Jalal Ahmed, a member of the fair’s organising committee, said police were trying to identify the two men.“They’re investigating. They assured us that these two be caught.”Shahbagh police OC Abu Bakr Siddique described the incident as a failed sabotage attempt.But he did not specify how many people had been detected from the footage.
