Dhaka – Alvi Haque’s unbeaten century of 102 runs helped Chittagong Division collect 269/10 in 70.4 overs in the first innings against Dhaka Division North on Day-1 of the Group B three-day-match of the Young Tigers Under-18 National Cricket Competition at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra on Wednesday. Alvi played 143 balls firing 12 boundaries and two sixes for his inings while skipper Sajib Miah (52 off 72b; 7×4) and Afsarul Karim (41 off 63b; 4×4; 1×6) were the other notable scorers for the side that were sent to bat first.Rakibul Atik captured five wickets for 62 runs in 16.4 overs while AKS Swadin bagged two for 34 runs.Dhaka Division North opened the innings on the day and played 18 overs to collect 47/0 at stumps where Neamul Alam (16*) and Mahmudul Hasan Shaown (17*) were on batting while Faiaz Habib Khan retired hurt with 14 runs.Spurred by Parvez Hussain’s top-scoring 129 off 223 balls, including 11 boundaries and seven sixes, defending champions Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) finished the first innings collecting 251/10 in 85 overs against Barisal Division (1/0 in 1 over at stumps) at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium and Complex in their Group A match in Cox’s Bazar after the first day’s play.Barisal Division won the toss and elected to bowl first in the match where skipper Tohidul Islam Limon got four wickets for 59 runs. Tahsan and Jahid Hasan took three wickets each conceding 33 and 66 runs respectively after their side elected to bowl first.In another Group B match at Rangpur Cricket Garden, batting first after winning the toss, Dhaka Metro were at stumps in the first innings with 200/7 in 90 overs after the first day’s play against Sylhet Division.Centurion Amit Hasan was batting on 113* off 230 balls, including 14 boundaries, and Naimur Rahman Noyon (1* off 30b) was pairing with him in the 8th wicket stand when the bails were drawn for day-1.Swagouta Talukder, Foyzul Islam Sajon and Naim Hussain Sakib bagged two wickets each for 45, 45 and 59 runs for Sylhet Division respectively.In the other Group A match at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar, Rajshahi Division opened the first innings with bat after winning the toss and were at stumps with 227/5 in 91 overs at the end of the day’s play against Rangpur Division.Subbir Alam (25* off 42b; 4×4; 1×4) and Rahim Ahmed (0* off18b) were at the crease in the 6th wicket stand when the bails were drawn for the first day.
