CHUADANGA -The election of four union parishads under Chuadanga Sadar upazila of the district was held peacefully today.The unions are Alokdia, Mominpur, Podmabila and Kutubpur. The polling began at 8 am and continued till 4 pm.Chuadanga District Election Control Room source said the election was held in 44 polling stations with number of 227 polling booths.The number of voters under four unions is 71,401 of which 35,987 are female. Forty-four presiding officers, 227 assistant presiding officers and 254 polling officers were engaged to conduct the polls.

In four unions, a total of 20 candidates contested for the posts of four chairmen, 124 candidates contested for the posts of 36 ward members and 33 female candidates contested for the posts of 12 reserved seats for the women.Source said that over 80 percent voters cast their votes in all the four union parishads election. Law and order situation in all the polling stations were strictly maintained by the law and order enforcing members.The elections were held under the second phase of UP election programme.
