Dhaka – Bangladesh Army reached final of the SIBL Victory Day Hockey Tournament beating national star-studded Bangladesh Navy by 4-3 goals in penalty shootout as the match was locked in 1-1 goals in the stipulated period at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Monday.The two teams will lock horn again in the title-deciding final on Wednesday (December 3) at the same venue as the two top teams of the league basis matches concluded on Monday.
On completion of four league matches, Bangladesh Navy topped the list securing 10 points while Bangladesh Army finished 2nd with eight points, conceding one defeat each.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) President and Chief of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshall Masihuzzaman Serneabat will be the chief guest in the final and later he will distribute the prizes.BHF vice president Dr Mahfuzur Rahman will be the special guest on the occasion.
In the schedule time of the day’s match, Milan Hossain scored first for Army in the 24th minutes while Farhad Ahmed restored the parity for sailors team in the 26th minute from a penalty corner to lead match toward penalty shootout session.
Earlier in the day’s first match, BKSP outplayed Bangladesh Police by 4-0 goals to finish 3rd in the five
-team fray at the same venue Monday afternoon.
