Vegetable prices fall for increased supply in Dhaka

Dhaka – The prices of vegetables slightly fell in the kitchen markets of the capital over the week due to increase supply after one week of Eid-ul-Azah. But other daily essentials remain stable like previous week.
The price of Hilsha became reasonable coming down due to availability in the market the traders offers Tk 700 to Tk 800 per kg of around or over one kg while it was sold Tk 1200 per kg before Eid. The small size of Hilsha (350- 400 gram) was selling Tk 300 while the mid size (over 700 gram) was selling at Tk 450 to Tk 500 per kg.In the different kitchen markets like Karwan Bazar, Uttaran and Mirpur the vendors are selling green pepper at Tk 120 to Tk 160 per kg yesterday while its price was Tk 240 per just one week ago.
The price other vegetable also rose to out of beyond of the common people after Eid.
The vendors said price reduced in the kitchen markets due to availability of supply from the villages.
In the kitchen market of Zohora Market of Uttara-14, the vendor was selling kidney bean (barbati) at Tk 60 per kg while it was selling at Tk 50 at Karwan Bazar kitchen market.
Brinjal was selling at Tk 50 to Tk 60 per kg while it was sold Tk 80 per kg one week ago. The price of Papaya reduced by Tk 10 per kg and it was selling at Tk 20 while it was sold Tk 30 per kg just one week ago.
Cucumber was selling at Tk 30 to Tk 40 per kg while it was sold Tk 100 to Tk 120 during Eid-Ul-Azah.
Price of lady’s finger also reduced to Tk 10 per kg and was selling at Tk 50 per kg reduced from Tk 60 per kg last week.
Visiting different kitchen markets this correspondent witnessed that the price of most of the vegetable reduced than last week.
The price of rice was stable in this week. The fine variety of rice like Nazrishail and Miniket are being sold at Tk 39 to 52 per kg while the coarse is selling Tk 3o to Tk 32 per kg.
The price of a kilogram of potato in the market ranges between Tk 26 and Tk 30.
One litre bottled Soyabean is being sold between Tk 95 and Tk 100, soyabean (loose) and palm oil (loose) between Tk 58 and Tk 60.
A kilogram of onion is currently being sold at a price between Tk 30 and Tk 35 depending on the quality.
One kilogram of garlic is currently being sold for Tk 100-Tk 110. On the other hand, one kilogram of ginger is sold at a price between Tk 100 and Tk 140 as compared.
Nazirshail/miniket rice is being sold for a price between Tk 398 and Tk 52 per kilogram and coarse rice Swarna/IRRI is sold for Tk 30-Tk.34. Atta (loose) costs between Tk. 28 and Tk. 32, packed Atta is going at a price between Tk 34 and Tk 36.
Price of meats is also seeing a constant increase in the market. One kilogram of beef is being sold at a price between Tk 380 and Tk 400 as compared to a price range of Tk 340 and Tk 370 a month ago. The price of chicken (broiler) per kilogram is between Tk 165 and Tk 170 against a price range of Tk 140 to Tk. 155 last month.
