Comilla Victorians took the top slot in the 3rd Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) points table after the 2nd phase of the league with a six-wicket victory over Chittagong Vikings at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Thursday.Replying to Ctg Vikings’ 136/5, Comilla Victorians scored 142 for 5 in 19.4 overs to register their 5th win in the league riding on the 2nd wicket stand of 52 runs in 8.1 overs between Imrul Kayes and Ahmed Shehzad.The 2nd pair carried the team total to 55/2 in 9.3 overs from 3/1 in 1.2 overs before Imrul Kayes was caught by Anamul Haque off a Tillakaratne Dilshan delivery.Ahmed Shehzad scored 37 runs off 41 balls with four boundaries and was caught by Ziaur Rahman off a Bilawal Bhatti delivery at 94/3 in 14.1 overs.Imrul Kayes was out for 35 off 28 balls with five fours while Shoaib Malik who was adjudged man of the match fired the only six of the innings in the last ball to draw the winning line.Shoaib Malik hammered unbeaten 34 off 23 balls including one six and two fours while number seven batsman Alok Kapali played unbeaten 10 off 9 balls with one four.Mohammad Amir grabbed two wickets for 22 runs in four overs. Tillakaratne Dilshan, Taskin Ahmed and Bilawal Bhatti took one wicket each for 11, 31 and 31 runs in 2, 3 and 3.4 overs respectively.

Earlier, sent in to bat first in the 20th BPL match, Chittagong Vikings played 20 overs to score 136/5 spurred by Umar Akmal’s unbeaten 49 off 34 balls with four fours and two sixes.The opening pair between skipper Tamim Iqbal and Tillakaratne Dilshan contributed 51 runs in 7.2 overs.Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 39 runs off 42 balls with five fours before being bowled out by Ashar Zaidi at team’s 78/3 in 12.3 overs.Opener Tamim Iqbal was caught by Ashar Zaidi off a Shuvagata Hom delivery scoring 27 off 23 balls with three fours and one six when the scoreboard was showing 51 runs in 7.2 overs.Bowling four overs each, Ashar Zaidi, Shuvagata Hom and Abu Hider took one wicket apiece for 18, 25 and 34 runs respectively.
