Volunteers to be trained to face disasters


The government has taken initiatives to train 62,000 volunteers to face disasters and post disasters rescue operations.
Besides, all the city corporations in the country will train one lakh volunteers.“We have already trained 32,000 volunteers. It is a continuous process to train the volunteers and training of the remaining 30,000 volunteers will be completed soon,” disaster management and relief minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said while inaugurating master trainer training to reduce the disaster risk at the city’s Biam auditorium yesterday.
The volunteers will take all kinds of training so that they could operate rescue operations during disasters anywhere in the country, the minister said.
Among others, director general of disaster management directorate Riaz Ahmed, director (training) Osman Ghani, joint secretary Quamrul Islam, UNISDR representative Arman Rustamian also spoke on the occasion. – Staff Reporter
