Warrant against Rafiq, 32 Bnp leaders in bomb case

A Dhaka court on Monday issued arrest warrant against 33 BNP leaders including Standing Committee Member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah and Joint Secretary-General Amanullah Aman in a case filed for hurling petrol bomb on a bus in Mirpur area of the capital on 25 January.Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order in the case filed under the Special Powers Act 1974 and the Explosive Substances Act 1908. Of the 36 accused of the charge sheet, the court issued warrant against 33, as they did not appear to the court during the hearing on Monday. The court directed police to submit a report in connection with the steps to arrest the 33 fugitives. The remaining three accused: BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, former lawmaker of the party Syeda Ashifa Ashrafi Papia and Liton Bepari are in jail custody.
Mirpur Model Police Station ASI Khandker Rajib Ahmed filed a case under the Explosive Substances Act on January 25. On March 19, Mirpur Model Police Station ASI Rafiqul Islam and also the IO of the case submitted the charge sheet against 36. Other accused include BNP Chairperson’s Special Assistant Shamshur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Chhatra Dal’s former President Sultan Salauddin Tuku, General Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, Juba Dal General Secretary Saiful Islam Nirob and Khaleda Zia’s Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel. – Court Correspondent
