Wife again seeks PM’s intervention to get back Salahuddin

Hasina Ahmed, wife of BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed, who has remained missing since March 10, again sought the Prime Minister’s intervention in getting back her husband.
“My husband has remained traceless for 12 days as law enforcers have picked him up. My sons, daughters and me have been passing our days in deep worries,” she told a press conference.Hasina further said, “I once again humbly request the Prime Minister to order the law enforcers to return my husband unharmed.”
The press conference was held under the banner of a pro-BNP platform Nagorik Samaj at the Jatiya Press Club.
Prof Sukomal Barua of Dhaka University read out a written statement at the press conference expressing the Nagorik Samaj’s concern over the disappearance of Salahuddin, ‘growing incidents of killing, enforced disappearance and mass arrest’.
The platform demanded a fresh acceptable election through a dialogue with the opposition to restore peace in the country.
Addressing the press conference, Hasina Ahmed in a sad voice said, “My husband was a lawyer as well as an administrative official. He was also a former MP and a state minister. I want cooperation from all to have my husband back unharmed.”
She said all the family members are going through a tough time with uncertainty. “My children have been anxiously waiting to hear good news. They want to know from me when they’ll get back their father.”
Expressing her firm belief in getting back her husband alive, the worried wife said Allah will return her husband to their family safe.
Earlier on Thursday, Hasina Ahmed submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office in the capital’s Tejgaon seeking her intervention in tracing her missing husband.
BNP and Salauddin’s family members have been claiming that law enforcers picked him up from a house at Uttara on the night of March 10, an allegation denied by the law enforcers and the government.
Meanwhile, Salahuddin’s wife filed a writ with the High Court seeking its order to rescue her husband.
Responding to the writ petition filed by Hasina Ahmed, the High Court on March 12 issued a rule asking the government to explain why directions should not be given to find out Salahuddin Ahmed and bring him before it.
In response to the rule, the law enforcement agencies told the court that they did not arrest Salahuddin and could not find him out.
The HC fixed April 8 for the next hearing on the writ. – UNB
