Dhaka- Bangladesh started the 2-match Test series giving a 1-0 to host West Indies conceding a humiliating defeat by an innings and 219 runs in the 1st match, which ended on day-3 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound in Antigua on Friday.This is Bangladesh’s 3rd defeats by an innings against West Indies among their 13th meetings since December 2002 where Bangladesh recorded two wins and two draws against nine losses.
The 9th match saw Bangladesh’s lowest total of 43/10 in Test cricket in an innings.
Bangladesh conceded an innings defeat last against South Africa at Mangaung Oval in October 2017 when host Protease won by an innings and 254 runs.
Replying to West Indies 406 runs in the 1st innings, Bangladesh — having their lowest total of 43/10 in the 1st innings — resumed the 2nd innings on3rdday with the overnight score of 62/6 in 18 overs and ended their breath on 144/10 in 40.2 overs.
Overnight batsman Nurul Hasan was the only notable scorer in the innings hammering ahalf centuryof 64 off 74 balls, including six boundaries and two sixes.
Pace bowler Rubel Hossain [16 off 33b; 1×4] was another player who could reachdouble digiton the 3rd day.
Shannon Gabriel (5/77), skipper Jason Holder (2/30) and Miguel Cummins (2/16) tackled Bangladesh’s batting strength in the innings for the winners.
Kemar Roach was adjudged man of the match for anall-roundperformance as he captured five wickets for economic eight runs in five overs withballin the 1st innings of Bangladesh before scored 33 off 50 balls with six fours and one six withbatfor his side.
