Dubai workers training course on labours’ rights, dues, occupational health and safety has started, and so far 509 workers have attended the awareness educational programme.The workers received approved certificates from Major General Obaid Muhair Bin Surour, Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs in Dubai, PCLA.General Surour, who is also the Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, GDRFA-Dubai, said the training course are conducted by the Middle East Training and Development Institution in Dubai.
He also said that expat employees in Dubai are trained on their rights and duties and on the UAE laws, rules and regulations and also on health issues and on the traditions and culture of the country in order to help them to cope with the society here. The courses are held at the labourer’s accommodation after finishing work hours.Surour said the awareness educational programme is designed to help workers understand and be aware of all aspects related to their new life in the UAE.He said that the workers will be educated on way of living such as life and culture, and on understanding on how to adapt the surrounding and how to live in harmony with others.Surour reaffirmed that the PCLA aims to create a healthy work environment and protect workers’ rights and meets global standards. He indicated that educating workers about their rights and duties via such kind of institutions will ensure that workers will not be subjected to any kind of exploitation.
