2 police sent to jail for killing businessman

A Dhaka court on Sunday sent three persons including two Sub-inspectors of police to the jail in a case filed for killing a businessman in 2012.Judge Dr Md Akteruzzaman of Special Judge Court-5 of Dhaka passed the order rejecting the bail petitions of the accused. The accused persons are: former Sub-inspectors of Kafrul Police Station- Md Nuruzzaman and Md Rezaul Karim Patwari, police source Babu alias Ratan alias Babu Mia.

The accused obtained bail in the case from the High Court Division and later the bail was extended till the submission of the charge sheet of the case to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka.

On Sunday, the accused surrendered to the court while the court sent them to the jail rejecting their bail pleas. The accused were absent from the court on several dates of the case.

The case statement says that on February 21, 2012, the accused sent sub-contractor Faruq Hossain Kamal to the court with prayer for a five-day remand in case No. 57(2)12 of Kafrul Police Station while the court rejected the remand plea as the victim was taken to the court with some injury marks. The victim was then sent to the jail where he became seriously ill on the following day. He was immediately sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries February 28 of the year.

Later, on April 18, 2012, victim Faruq’s sister Pervin Haque filed the murder case with the CMM Court of Dhaka. CID Police Inspector Mazharul Haque submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court against the accused on March 1, this year.
