BCL cadres beat up journos in RU

A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists of
Rajshahi University (RU) unit severely beat up two journalists of the
university on Monday.
The injured two journalists were identified as Azibul Haque Partho,
and Al-Amin Akash, RU correspondents of Daily Inqilab and Amader
Orthonity respectively.
Witnesses said that roup of BCL activists led by Sudipto Salam, RU
unit BCL joint secretary and Suranjit Prasad Bitto, relief and
disaster management affairs secretary rushed to Tukitaki Chattar on
the campus and stretched the collar (shirt) of Aksash around 1:30pm.
Partho who was sitting beside him wanted to know why they misbehaved
with them (journos). During an altercation Salam and his fellows
started to beat up the journos with sticks.
They were admitted to RU medical centre with serious injuries.
Partho alleged that earlier a month ago Salam was arrested with fire
arms and a sex worker. For filing the report he became angry and
severely beat up the journalists.
Contacted, Salam said that they beat up Partho and Akash as they
(journos) teased a female student (girl friend of Bitto) while she was
taking her meal at Tukitaki Chattar.
RU Proctor Prof Tarikul Hasan said that they will take stern action
against the involved BCL men after investigating the matter.
