BNP trying to make city polls questionable: Hasan

Dhaka, Jan 04 – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Saturday alleged that BNP is raising various allegations from the very beginning with an intention to make the elections to two Dhaka city corporations questionable.“BNP leaders are coming up with allegations every day through press conferences and they might do so after the elections. During the last national election, BNP was too much busy making it questionable instead of putting in efforts to win it,” he said.
Hasan Mahmud, also joint general secretary of Awami League, was talking to reporters after inaugurating the ‘Prokriti Mela-2020’ of ‘Channel i’ at noon.
He also urged BNP leaders to participate in the elections with the aim to clinch victory for the sake of democracy and strengthening democracy instead of making it questionable.
About the arrest of one BNP councillor candidate, the minister said law enforcement agencies can arrest anyone if there are cases or warrants against them – be they BNP or Awami League or other party candidates.
Thanking Prokriti O Jibon Foundation and ‘Channel i’ for organising the fair, he said all are destroying the nature every day for urbanisation and modernisation.
“But we’ve to save nature for the survival of human beings. I hope awareness created over protecting nature will turn into a social movement because we can live only if nature survives.” – UNB
