Acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the United Kingdom Dr Nazrul Islam met Edinburgh Lord Provost Robert Aldridge during a two-day visit to Scotland, where they discussed issues of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on cultural cooperation and the welfare and contributions of the growing Bangladeshi diaspora in the Scottish capital.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on strengthening people-to-people links and enhancing engagement between Bangladesh and Scotland through cultural and community initiatives.

As part of his visit, Dr Islam also attended a discussion on foreign investment and business opportunities in Bangladesh, jointly organised by the Honorary Consulate of Bangladesh in Edinburgh and the local Bangladeshi community. The event showcased Bangladesh’s evolving economic landscape and highlighted emerging opportunities for international investors.

The acting high commissioner further held interactive meetings with members of the Bangladeshi community in Dundee and Kinross, encouraging them to play a greater role in promoting trade, investment, and stronger people-to-people connectivity between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.

Assistant High Commissioner in Manchester Mohammad Jobayed Hosen accompanied Dr Islam during the engagements.
