Judicial Academy to train judges on cards, says Law Minister

Dhaka, Feb 07 – Law Minister Anisul Huq on Friday said that the government is planning to set up a National Judicial Academy at Shibchar Upazila in Madaripur considering the importance of providing training to the judges.“Now, the judiciary is independent. It is important to provide training to the judges for the institutionalization of the judiciary as an independent organ of the government. Hence, a National Judicial Academy will be set up in the Upazila in line with the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” the law minister came up with the comments while talking to reporters after visiting the probable locations in the Upazila for setting up the academy.
The law minister also said that after completing the construction of the Padma bridge the importance of the Shibchar would be increased as it is situated in the bank of Padma River.
“Shibchar Upazila will be turned into a very significant place in the country after the construction of the Padma Bridge. The government will also set up a “Chouki Adalat” (court) in the Upazila in order to ensure access to justice for the general people,” the law minister noted.
The law minister visited the Shibchar Upazila with the local MP and Awami League leaders and activists.
Later on, the law minister attended a view exchange meeting as chief guest organised by Faridpur District’s Bhanga Upazila Bar Association. – UNB
