Man killed in Gaibandha clash over land

A man was killed and 10 other people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over the ownership of a piece of land at Sadarpur village in Sadullahpur upazila on Wednesday.The deceased was identified as Saiduzzaman, a resident of the village. Zia Latifur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadullahpur Police Station,said when Akbar Ali of the village went to cultivate a disputed land, Mohammad Ali of the village and his supporters obstructed him at about 4:30 pm, leading to a clash. Both groups attacked each other with sticks and local weapons, leaving 12 people injured. The injured were rushed to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex where Saiduzzaman succumbed to his injures at about 10:00 pm. Police recovered the body and sent it to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. A case was filed in this connection. –UNB, Gaibandha
