Sharmila Tagore to grace Dhaka as DIFF jury

The organizers announced the renowned actress Sharmila Tagore will be joining the event as a distinguished jury member for the Asian competition section.



The 22nd Dhaka International Film Festival - DIFF has disclosed an array of masterclasses featuring esteemed filmmakers and artists.

The organizers announced the renowned actress Sharmila Tagore will be joining the event as a distinguished jury member for the Asian competition section.

In addition to Sharmila Tagore, the panel of judges for the Asian competition section includes Russian producer Anna Shalashina, Chinese film expert and producer Dr. Shi Chuan, Bangladeshi director Samia Zaman, and Thai director and producer Tom Waller.

Their responsibilities encompass evaluating films across various categories such as best movie, producer, actor, actress, screenwriter, and cinematographer within the Asian competition section of the Dhaka festival.

Alongside the esteemed jury, the Dhaka Film Festival this year will host masterclasses by notable filmmakers. Iranian director Majid Majidi, renowned for "Children of Heaven," will lead a masterclass on filmmaking.

Additionally, celebrated musician Anjan Dutt and Chinese film expert Shi Chuan are set to conduct masterclasses at the festival.

Established in 1992, the Dhaka International Film Festival, organized by the Rainbow Film Society under the theme 'Better cinema, better audience, better society,' has become the largest film event in the country. The upcoming 22nd edition of the festival will showcase over 250 movies from 75 countries.

Scheduled to run from January 20 to 28, the Dhaka International Film Festival promises to be a platform for cinematic appreciation and cultural exchange on a global scale.
