Narrative films to be aired on National Mourning Day

Two narrative films based on the stories of ‘Mahamanaber Deshe’ will be aired on TV on August 15, marking the National Mourning Day and the martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with his family at the hands of military zealots. The stories of ‘Mahamanaber Deshe’ written by Shahid Rahman are based on incidents surrounding the brutal and despicable killing of Bangabandhu.
Scripts of the two films are from Shahid Rahman while the directors are Razibul Islam Razib and Sumon Dhar. Names of the films are- ‘Shedin Sraboner Megh Chhilo’ and ‘Pachattarer Diary.’ Screenplay of the first one is by Shahid Rahman while the second one is by Rakesh Basu. ‘Pachattarer Diary’ will be aired at 7.45pm on Channel i while ‘Shedin Sraboner Megh Chhilo’ will be aired at 6pm on ATN Bangla on August 15.
Shedin Sraboner Megh Chilo is about the day of August 15, 1975. In the immediate aftermath of Bangabandhu’s murder along with his entire family, it is depicted that not much protests erupted throughout the country. There were sporadic incidents though. One of these zooms in on a newly-wed freedom fighter. At the news of the great leader’s death he leaves behind his wife to respond to the call of a valiant school teacher.
However, he is eventually apprehended by the local administration while taking part in a demonstration on the streets of his village. He is taken to prison and then tortured to death. Actors of this production are-Azad Abul Kalam, Rownak Hasan, Jannatul Himi, Mizanur Rahman and more.
Pachattorer Diary begins with an earlier plot to kill Bangbandhu before his eventual martyrdom on August 15, 1975. In this case, a public officer named Belayet warns Bangabandhu of an imminent attempt on his life. Bangabandhu was to be murdered on his way to inaugurate the Betbunia Ground Station in Rangamati on June 14, 1975.
In their subsequent attempt on August 15, the conspirators succeed. As a result student-protests erupt at University of Dhaka. But the young protesters are captured and mercilessly tortured by secret police. Actors of this production are- Shahiduzzaman Selim, Monoj Pramanik, Tania Brishty, Shahadat Hossain, Jahangir Alam and more.
