People’s attention from corruption can’t be diverted by Casino

Dhaka, Nov 07 – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday accused the government of diverting the people’s attention from its corruption what he said by staging casino drama.“Their (government) corruption level reached such a stage that it is to catch tiny corrupt people to hide that…I want to make it clear that you (government) won’t be able to divert the people’s attention by catching tiny corrupt people and staging casino gossip,” he said while speaking at a discussion meeting at Mahanagar Nattaya Mancha auditorium in the afternoon.
The BNP organized the meeting to mark the ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day.’
The BNP leader alleged that the present government wants to turn Bangladesh into an ineffective country in a planned manner and consciously.
The government has been destroying all the state organizations, depriving the people of there voting rights and justice, he added.
Mirza Alamgir, who presided over the meeting, put emphasis on the need to take to the streets to oust the government saying that they (government) are fascists and there is no alternative but to launch a movement to get rid of the government.
“We all will have to get united and take to the streets to free deshnetri Khaleda Zia and restore the democracy and our rights-There is no alternative to it,” he said.
Criticizing the ruling party leaders for not accepting November 7, he said they do not accept it as they do not believe n independence and sovereignty of the country.
He said those who believe in independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh and want to see the country independent will observe November 7 and recognise the day.
The BNP observes November 7 as National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
The BNP secretary general alleged that country’s media is being run at the government directives and that’s why the news on freedom fighter Sadeque Hossain Khoka mostly was published in inner pages of the newspapers.
BNP standing committee members-Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Selima Rahman, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Habib-un-Nabi and Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anie, among others, were present at the meeting. – Staff Reporter
